Self sufficiency. It’s something on a lot of peoples mind today, more than ever before! If you’ve been wanting to finally get those hands in the dirt and plant some seeds to grow your own food, now is the time to do it!
Growing your own food and gardens is not only extremely good for your health, it’s also highly therapeutic and calming to the mind. Organic gardening, and using natural remedies to keep your garden lush and thriving is also one of the most commonly searched things on our dear friend, the internet.
Did you know? 85% of all plant disease is said to be fungal related?! Anyone who has attempted to grow any sort of plant has probably seen first hand the challenges of pests and fungal disease, but I’m here to show you some of my favorite all natural solutions and recipes to keep your garden organic and healthy!
This post will cover 4 main recipes that are commonly needed for those growing food and/or flower gardens at home: Plant Pests, Fungus Treatment, Pollinator Boost, and Ant Repellant.
16oz glass spray bottle
2 tablespoons Castile Soap
10 drops peppermint
10 drops Lavender
5 drops Lemongrass
5 drops Cedarwood
Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a 16oz glass spray bottle and fill the remainder of the bottle with water. Mix well before use and spray on plant foliage early morning or after the sun goes down to prevent burning of the leaves.
20 drops Tea Tree
4oz spray bottle
Instructions: Mix essential oil and water in a 4oz spray bottle. Shake well and spray directly on infected areas 1-2 times per week as needed. Be sure to also spray on surrounding soil and any gardening tools like clippers or gloves to prevent spreading the fungus from plant to plant.
6 drops Wild Orange
4oz spray bottle
Instructions: mix the essential oil with water in a 4oz spray bottle. Mist on parts of your garden that need help attracting bees and butterflies for pollination. Ideally you want to be doing companion planting and adding flowers and other plants that help this process, but if space is limited this is a great booster!
10 drops Peppermint
1/4 cup witch hazel
4 oz spray bottle
Instructions: Mix ingredients together and fill the remainder with water. Spray on trails or in areas where you need to deter rodents, aphids, flies and other pests.
It may be obvious to you that nowadays you can buy essential oils just about anywhere. However, something I want to make sure you are aware of is that not all essential oils are created equal.
Many brands out there are capitalizing on the popularity and growing interest in essential oils and are producing and selling fake, synthetic and highly diluted and cut down essential oils and labelling them as pure. There is little to no regulation on essential oils in the market so it’s important to do a little extra research when it comes to deciding who you will buy your oils from!
The recipes I’ve included in this post are all doTERRA essential oils. doTERRA is currently the largest essential oil company in the world. We have the most trusted, most tested essential oils as well as the most ethical and sustainable supply chain!
If you mow down some land, plant peppermint fields and force them to grow you will get peppermint, but it will absolutely not be the same as growing, harvesting and distilling peppermint in its natural thriving environments. This is where you’ll see a massive difference in the quality of doTERRA essential oils and why I use them in my own home.
Great question! Purchasing doTERRA oils is incredibly easy and also very affordable given the purity and potency!
You can purchase all of the essential oils as well as any other doTERRA products by getting your own wholesale account (it’s like Costco) to get 25% off retail for a full year! Click here to shop and set yourself up as a wholesale customer!
I get an email anytime someone new gets started with me too, so I will reach out with a welcome email as well as send you a welcome goodie bag in the mail with some other tools and resources to help empower you on your natural living journey!
